Duties/Expectations

• Practice during the week
• Arrive on time
• Follow directions from the band leader
• Lead the congregation in song

Checklist

• Arrive at 525pm to begin sound check at 530pm
• Follow the directions of the band leader and the sound person to complete the sound check and run through each of the songs
• Join in the pre-service prayer at 545pm
• Grab a drink and say G'day to people and then be ready to go at 6pm after the MC kicks off the service.
• After the sermon return to the band area at the direction of the band leader for the final response song

Notes

• The band is the accompaniment to the congregation
• The bullseye for the band is "undistracting excellence"
  • God calls us to give our best
  • Excellence can be distracting if we make ourselves the focus ie. showing off.
  • Mediocre, flat and uninspiring or mistake riddled music is also distracting.
  • We want to be well prepared and utilise our skills so that
    • The music becomes neither the focus or irrelevant and
    • We don't have to concentrate so much on playing/singing and can be more free to engage in worship ourselves.
