Duties/Expectations
- Practice during the week
- Arrive on time
- Follow directions from the band leader
- Lead the congregation in song
Checklist
- Arrive at 245pm to help finish sound set up and get ready to begin sound check at 3pm
- Follow the directions of the band leader and the sound person to complete the sound check and run through each of the songs
- Join in the pre-service prayer at 345pm
- Grab a drink and say G'day to people and then be ready to go at 4pm after the MC kicks off the service.
- After the sermon return to the band area at the direction of the band leader for the final response song
Notes
- The band is the accompaniment to the congregation
- The bullseye for the band is "undistracting excellence"
- God calls us to give our best
- Excellence can be distracting if we make ourselves the focus ie. showing off.
- Mediocre, flat and uninspiring or mistake riddled music is also distracting.
- We want to be well prepared and utilise our skills so that
- The music becomes neither the focus or irrelevant and
- We don't have to concentrate so much on playing/singing and can be more free to engage in worship ourselves.
