To lead regulars and visitors through our services and ensure that each part runs according to plan.

Duties

  • Roundup the team to pray
  • Welcome and intro the service
  • Share the notices
  • Facilitate the special spot
  • Lead in prayer (if another volunteer is not praying)
  • Manage all the segues
  • Wrap up the service

Checklist

  • Arrive at 530pm
  • Round up everyone who is serving from or contributing to the platform at 545pm to pray
    • Band
    • AV
    • Reader
    • Prayer
    • Preacher
    • Spot
  • Kick off the service when the countdown video finishes at 6pm

Notes

  • Our gatherings are primarily for believers but with an eye to the outsider
  • Be relaxed and genuine
  • Welcome people like you would welcome people into your home
    • Remind people why we've gathered in a way that outsiders can understand
    • Provide clear instructions
    • Final close - Remind of next steps, preview next week, invite to fellowship
  • Model engagement when seated during the service
    • Sit close
    • Respond appropriately (both spiritual and practical)
  • Talk up everyone who comes the platform
    • "Lets make them feel welcome as they come up"
  • The more you can mention people be name the more personal and connected people feel
  • Interviews need banter and paraphrasing, talk up the interviewee, engage with them rather than the congregation
    • Ask the why questions not the what.
  • Announcements show what we care about
    • Sell the vision not the logistics
    • Distinguish the event audience and don't use hard labels "non-christian"
